Passing of Civil Rights Icon Jesse Jackson

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of civil rights icon Jesse Jackson. A tireless advocate for justice and equality, Reverend Jackson dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of the marginalized and voiceless. His passion ignited change and inspired countless individuals to join the struggle for civil rights.

As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate his legacy—a legacy that reminds us of the power of hope, resilience, and the unwavering belief that every voice matters. Jesse Jackson taught us that the fight for equality is never over, and it is our duty to continue his work.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May we honor his memory by committing ourselves anew to the principles he championed and the vision he fought for. Rest in peace, Reverend Jackson. Your impact will be felt for generations to come. #JesseJackson #CivilRights #LegacyOfChange #PrinceGeorgesCountyDems

One County, One Voice, One Future

On January 8, 2026, the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee brought leaders, neighbors, and community advocates together at Manor en Noire for an evening centered on unity and purpose. Under the theme “One County, One Voice, One Future,” members gathered to reaffirm the values that guide our work: strengthening civic engagement, expanding community representation, and championing the needs of Districts across our county.

This event showcased what makes PGCDCC essential to Prince George’s County — committed leadership, intentional collaboration, and a shared belief that our collective voice can drive meaningful change. Photos from the evening highlight the energy and commitment that continue to push our county forward.

Impacts of the Trump Government Shutdown

In Two Days, Nutrition Assistance Funding Lapses for the First Time in History

Trump and Republicans’ government shutdown is beginning to have life and death consequences: in two days, health care costs will rise as millions lose access to nutrition assistance. But Trump refuses to intervene to save health care and SNAP.

On November 1, 42 million Americans are about to lose access to SNAP — the first time funding has lapsed in the program’s history.

6.7 million women and children who participate in the Women, Infants and Children nutrition program (WIC) could also go hungry just as temperatures begin to drop.

To be clear: Donald Trump has the power to keep millions of American families from starving — but he just doesn’t care.

The Trump administration currently holds about $5.5 billion in the SNAP contingency fund, Trump just refuses to use it.

Here is a table of SNAP recipient households by MD Congressional District (see the attached document for a nationwide breakdown):
